Welcome
Welcome to Bedford Hospital NHS Trust. This website is about the services we offer to our community. It is also about our staff and our facilities. We hope you will find it both helpful and useful. There is information about how to find us, maps to help you find your way around our hospital campus, and information about our clinical and support services.
Our motto is ‘Every Patient Matters’ and we try to provide the best care possible at all times. You may ask why our home page is brick red in colour? The answer is quite simple. Bedford is the home of English brick. In years past there were many brickworks in our district. Most of the buildings in Bedford and its environs are made of bricks and mortar including our hospital. Brick signals strength and the mortar that binds the bricks together signals unity. This is the outer framework. When you open the door you see the diversity that is our multi-cultural staff and the services we provide. We are the content. Put together we have the architectural landscape that reflects what our hospital is all about.
We provide a full range of acute hospital services and in addition we have one of the newest cancer centres in Bedfordshire – the MacMillan Primrose Unit. We have an excellent cardiology suite which was opened in 2005 and the most up-to-date Pathology Laboratory which was completed in 2006.
We have a proud tradition of service which is reflected in the number of local and national awards we regularly win for our care at both a clinical and support level. Our hospital has a reputation for excellence in cleanliness, meeting our waiting time targets, and the information we provide for patients.
All of this and more is on this website. We welcome your feedback as part of our drive for continuous improvement and we hope that when you use our services you find the experience of the highest standard.
